About Ellen

I received my bachelor's degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University and my master's degree in Communication Disorders from Emerson College.  While at Emerson I was awarded a U.S. Office of Education training grant in preschool language disorders as well as the Provost's Award for Graduate Research.  I am licensed as a speech-language pathologist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  I am dedicated to continually expanding my knowledge of current theory and best practice through ongoing professional education.

My 35+ year career in pediatrics has included work on multidisciplinary teams in University Affiliated Programs, Hospitals and Clinics, as well as private practice.   Now a solo practitioner, I continue to value and foster a team approach; regularly collaborating with early intervention programs, educators, and other professionals to best serve my clients.

My years of multidisciplinary experience inform my work every day, and allow me to tailor speech-language therapy to the needs of the whole child and family.  Parents are my best and most important collaborators.  Together we work to create support plans that are attuned to their child's unique strengths, challenges and interests; maximizing their engagement, enjoyment and growth as communicators.

I made the transition to independent practice to be able to serve families in the most comprehensive way possible.  I have the time and autonomy to give each client the in depth treatment planning, consultation and collaboration needed to fully support their speech-language development and communication skills.

I LOVE what I do!

"We are so grateful for Ellen's amazing work with our daughter...every single session it was evident that Ellen loves what she does and genuinely cares for her clients...she created such a special and trusting relationship with our daughter and demonstrated so much patience, compassion and kindness...Ellen clearly understands the individual needs and learning styles of the children she works with.....under her expertise, guidance and amazing support our daughter became able to communicate clearly with everyone around her...it's impossible to find the right words to share the tremendous impact Ellen had on our daughter and family.  She will forever hold a special place in our hearts."  - C.B.

"Ellen has been a gift to our family, as a speech therapist and also as a partner to us through our son's growth and development.  She applies her deep expertise with such warmth and individualized care - for our son AND our family - which has not only allowed him to make great progress, but to feel personal accomplishment and ownership of his success. Ellen has taught our son lessons that will stretch beyond the scope of their work together and we are so grateful for that. If you are making a choice about a speech therapist for your child, Ellen is your answer.  She's a gem"  -K.R.

"Our family was introduced to Ellen a year ago to work with our then 2 year old daughter...To say we are thankful to have found Ellen would be an understatement.  Even before our sessions began, Ellen took keen interest to acquaint herself with our daughter's personality and interests- immediately breaking down barriers with our sweet girl by using her favorite characters and books to engage her in those early sessions, and each and every session since then.  Ellen has an unmatched ability to use child-directed play while gently working in the over arching goals and speech and language targets at every opportunity in a way that seems effortless.  As parents, Ellen has been a saving grace.  In a time that began with fear of the unknown, Ellen has not only worked with our daughter, but she has been her advocate and a mentor/coach for us as we navigated building a comprehensive plan across different services....Her interest in what is best for our daughter is thoughtful and genuine and puts her in a league of her own,  making her more than an SLP, but a true teammate of ours as parents on this journey. " -M.J.
